John Chimp 2: Bull Rush is a 2D endless climber/ shooter developed in 48hrs for the 2024 Chillenium Jam. The game's core mechanic is the ability to shoot spring-like grapple hooks and retract them manually or all at once. Using the grappling hooks, players must climb as high as possible, but enemies will constantly try to break the grapples and grapple ropes are a limited resource. Players can collect and utilize various guns to help fight back against the bugs and propel themselves even higher in a frantic race to the top.
I conceptualized the game's core movement and combat mechanics.
I created all art assets used in the project.
I created a 2D rigged character with Unity's 2D physics joints that can rotate 360 degrees.
I created multiple enemies that were rigged and animated using Unity's 2D rigging tool.
I designed and programmed the game's UI menus and HUD.
